The 2026 NFL season entered Week 7 with a slate of decisive outcomes that reshaped divisional standings and highlighted emerging offensive trends. The evening concluded with the Seattle Seahawks defeating the Kansas City Chiefs 27-19, ending Kansas City’s perfect start to the year. The victory for Seattle came with the Chiefs’ receiving corps totaling only 39 yards.

Jaxon Smith-Njigba accounted for 129 receiving yards in the first half, a personal career high and the largest half-season total for a Seahawks receiver since Tyler Lockett in 2020. He now leads the league with 867 receiving yards and eight receiving touchdowns. According to ESPN Research, he is the first player in the Super Bowl era to reach at least 850 receiving yards and eight receiving touchdowns in his team’s first seven games of a season. His performance helped Seattle secure the win despite a late defensive struggle.

Sam Darnold, the Seattle quarterback, completed 20 of 28 passes for 257 yards and one touchdown. He intercepted a pass on second down in the back of the end zone during the final seconds of the first half. This was his eighth interception in the past five games. Despite the mistake, Darnold avoided being sacked for the first time in three games. He threw for 178 yards in the first half before the turnover.

Kenneth Walker III, the former Super Bowl MVP, faced his former team in his first game with Seattle. He entered the contest leading the league with 665 rushing yards. The Seahawks defense limited his effectiveness, never allowing him to gain 10 yards on a single carry. Walker finished with 36 yards on 14 carries. The Chiefs also struggled at receiver, with their group combining for six receptions and 39 yards. Rashee Rice missed the game with a strained right hamstring, and Tyquan Thornton is on injured reserve following ankle surgery.

Brett Veach, the Chiefs general manager, faces pressure to address the receiving position before the November 10 trade deadline. Patrick Mahomes recorded a season low in fantasy points, throwing for 165 yards and no touchdowns. He has topped 250 passing yards only once in his last four games. The Chiefs play the Denver Broncos next Sunday.

Elsewhere on the weekend, the Pittsburgh Steelers defeated the New Orleans Saints in the season’s first game in France. Jaylen Warren rushed for 101 yards on 18 carries for Pittsburgh. The Detroit Lions held the Green Bay Packers to 17 points, forcing a turnover and limiting Green Bay to five completions on 15 third down attempts. The Lions’ defense has shown improvement over its last two weeks.

The Los Angeles Rams scored on four consecutive possessions in the first half against the Las Vegas Raiders, marking their highest scoring game of the season. They relied heavily on tight ends and running backs in the absence of Davante Adams, who is injured for five to nine weeks. Kyren Williams had nine fumbles since becoming the starter in 2023, according to ESPN Research. The Seattle Seahawks play the Chicago Bears next week.

The New York Giants and Houston Texans played a matchup in which the Raiders’ defensive coordinator Rob Leonard saw his unit allow 30 or more points for the fourth straight game. Las Vegas is last in points allowed since Week 3. Kirk Cousins threw two fourth quarter touchdowns for the Raiders, increasing his season total to 16. The Raiders remain below .500 for the first time this season.
