Jay-Z will headline the Super Bowl halftime show on Feb. 14, 2027, the NFL, Apple Music, and Roc Nation announced Monday night. The performance will take place at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California.
The announcement followed a brief period of public speculation. A promotional video shared with the news showed Jay-Z seated in the stadium surrounded by goats, accompanied by the caption "GOAT's out of the bag."
Roc Nation has worked with the NFL on entertainment production since 2019. When the partnership first began, Jay-Z told NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, "If this is about me performing at the Super Bowl, then we can just end this conversation now." Seven years later, he has accepted the role.
The artist has performed at the stadium recently. He closed his "Jay-Z 30" concert series in Southern California over the weekend. The tour began with three shows at Yankee Stadium in New York and included dates in London.
Jay-Z, born Shawn Carter, holds 25 Grammy Awards and has received 89 nominations. He is the second-most nominated artist in history, behind his wife Beyoncé. His catalog includes albums such as "Reasonable Doubt," "The Blueprint," and "The Black Album."
His 1996 debut album "Reasonable Doubt" was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 2025. He became the first rapper inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2017 and joined the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2021.
Since 2019, other halftime performers have included Shakira, Jennifer Lopez, Rihanna, Kendrick Lamar, and The Weeknd. Jay-Z's career extends beyond music to artist management and sports, including the co-founding of Roc-A-Fella Records and the founding of Roc Nation in 2008.
