The Milwaukee Brewers scored eight runs with two outs in the fifth inning, a World Series first, to rout the Tampa Bay Rays 10-1 on Monday night. This performance put Milwaukee within one victory of their first championship.

Brice Turang initiated the scoring surge with a two-run single that bounced off shortstop Taylor Walls' glove. The Brewers followed with a postseason record of seven consecutive hits. Garrett Mitchell and Sal Frelick added RBI singles, while Cooper Pratt delivered a two-run double. The inning ended 8-0 in Milwaukee's favor.

Jackson Chourio contributed four hits and a stolen base in five at-bats. He became the second-youngest player to achieve that combination in a World Series game, trailing only Ty Cobb in 1908. Manager Pat Murphy praised the 22-year-old for his discipline, noting that Chourio treated every at-bat as if it were his last.

Robert Gasser, a rookie left-hander, pitched one-hit ball and faced the minimum 18 batters through six innings. He is the first starter to do so in a World Series game since Curt Schilling in 2001 and the first left-hander since Sandy Koufax in 1965. Gasser allowed only one run in 15 innings across three postseason starts.

Tampa Bay's Yandy Diaz singled to lead off the first inning, but Gasser retired the next 14 batters. Victor Mesa Jr. walked to start the sixth, but Gasser retired the side on a caught stealing and a double play. The Rays, who led the American League with 98 regular-season wins, are now down 3-1 in the series.

Rays manager Kevin Cash described the team's position as having a chip and a chair, emphasizing the need to win the next game. He noted that inconsistencies in the strike zone by Tampa Bay starter Freddy Peralta led to productive at-bats for Milwaukee. Peralta allowed five runs and seven hits in 4 2/3 innings.

Game 4 is scheduled for Tuesday night at Tropicana Field. Griffin Jax is expected to start for Tampa Bay, while the Brewers have not yet announced their pitcher. Milwaukee has won eight straight games, tying the postseason record for consecutive wins.
