The Milwaukee Brewers defeated the Tampa Bay Rays 10-1 on Monday night at Tropicana Field to take a 3-1 lead in the World Series.

Jackson Chourio finished with four hits, including a double, and a stolen base to lead the Brewers offense.

Brice Turang drove in two runs on a single that ended the fifth-inning rally.

Robert Gasser pitched one-hit ball through six innings to secure the win.

The Brewers built an 8-0 lead in the fifth inning after trailing 1-0 for most of the game.

Chourio opened the rally with a single and stole second base with two outs.

Christian Yelich walked and William Contreras hit an infield single to load the bases.

A replay review overturned a forceout at second base, allowing the inning to continue.

Turang hit a liner over shortstop Taylor Walls for a two-run single.

Garrett Mitchell and Cooper Pratt added RBI hits to extend the lead to 8-0.

Sal Frelick lined a run-scoring double to make the score 8-0 before relievers added two more runs.

Gasser allowed a single to Yandy Diaz in the first inning before retiring 14 consecutive batters through the fifth inning and most of the sixth inning walk-off scenario context correction: Gasser retired 14 straight before a walk in the sixth. He became the first starter to face the minimum 18 batters through six innings of a World Series game since Curt Schilling in 2001. He was also the first left-handed pitcher to do so since Sandy Koufax in 1965. Gasser has allowed one run in 15 innings over three starts in this postseason. All three starts were on the road. He is the first Brewers starter to get an out in the sixth inning during this postseason. Chourio is the second-youngest player with four hits and a stolen base in a World Series game behind Ty Cobb in 1908. Milwaukee manager Pat Murphy compared Chourio to Kobe Bryant. Chourio said he was taking every at-bat as if it could be his last. The Brewers have won eight straight games, tying the record for a single postseason. They are one win away from becoming the first team to sweep the League Championship Series and the World Series since the 1976 Cincinnati Reds. Tampa Bay manager Kevin Cash said the team has a seat at the table and must win tomorrow to stay alive. The Rays had led the American League with 98 wins in the regular season. They swept the New York Yankees in three games in the Division Series and beat the Cleveland Guardians in six games in the American League Championship Series. They have never won a World Series in 29 seasons. The Brewers led the majors with 103 wins in the regular season. They beat the San Diego Padres in four games in the National League Division Series and swept the Los Angeles Dodgers in the National League Championship Series. Griffin Jax is scheduled to start Game 4 for Tampa Bay. The Brewers have not announced a starter. Game 4 is scheduled for Tuesday night at Tropicana Field. The stadium had a sellout crowd of 40,388 fans. Many Brewers fans cheered from behind the visitors' dugout. Gasser said it was cool to have that support on the road. He noted that normally it is 35,000 fans against nine, but they had 20,000 people behind them. Peralta, the MVP of the American League Championship Series, was charged with five runs and seven hits in 4 2/3 innings. Cash said Peralta was a little out of sync and tried to power through it. The Brewers racked up 16 hits against Peralta and five relievers. Brandon Woodruff pitched the ninth inning for the Brewers. He allowed one run and two hits in his first appearance in 3 1/2 months. He had been sidelined by a shoulder injury. The franchise originated as the Seattle Pilots in 1969 before moving to Milwaukee in 1970. Their only other World Series trip ended in a Game 7 loss to St. Louis in 1982.
