25 Grammy winner Jay-Z to headline 2027 Super Bowl halftime show

Jay-Z will headline the Super Bowl halftime show, bringing his 25 Grammy Award-winning career to the center of the NFL's biggest annual entertainment event. The rapper, whose real name is Shawn Carter, has received 89 Grammy nominations, the second-highest total in history behind his wife, Beyoncé.

The NFL, Apple Music, and Roc Nation announced the booking on Monday night. Jay-Z will perform at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California, on Feb. 14, 2027. This venue is where he recently closed a 30th-anniversary tour for his 1996 debut album, "Reasonable Doubt."

Roc Nation has partnered with the NFL since 2019 to help produce the league's entertainment presentations. NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell stated that when the league first agreed to work with Roc Nation, he made one specific request. Goodell asked that Jay-Z take the stage himself whenever the moment felt right to him.

In 2019, Jay-Z told Goodell that if the partnership was primarily about him performing at the Super Bowl, they could end the conversation immediately. Seven years later, the rapper accepted the headline role. Jay-Z said in a statement that the journey from "Reasonable Doubt" to the Super Bowl stage represents thirty years of music and culture. He described the performance as a dream come true.

Jay-Z's recent concert tour featured a rotating cast of guests. At SoFi Stadium this weekend, his daughter Blue Ivy played piano on "The Story of O.J." and "Dead Presidents." Opening night guests included Scarface, John Legend, and DJ Khaled. The Saturday finale featured Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, and Too $hort. Earlier in the tour, Beyoncé, Rihanna, Eminem, and Nas performed at Yankee Stadium.

Jay-Z is a four-time Emmy winner and was the first rapper inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2017. He joined the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2021. Roc Nation will executive produce the halftime show, with Hamish Hamilton serving as the director.

The Super Bowl halftime show has received Emmy recognition in recent years. Bad Bunny's performance in February 2026 won a record seven awards, including best variety special. Kendrick Lamar's show in 2025 won for music direction.
