The Russian city of Voronezh came under a significant drone attack during the night of October 25 and 26, 2026. The assault resulted in fires at multiple industrial facilities, with specific targets identified as the Voronezhsintezkauchuk rubber plant and the Voronezh Aircraft Production Association, also known as VASO. The strikes marked one of the more intense aerial engagements in the region in recent weeks.

According to reports from Ukrainian OSINT channels Supernova+ and Exilenova+, the Voronezhsintezkauchuk facility was a primary target. This plant is part of the Sibur group, a major Russian corporation, and is responsible for producing synthetic rubbers and various polymer materials. The channel also confirmed that VASO was struck. VASO operates as part of the Ilyushin Aviation Complex division within the United Aircraft Corporation. The facility is known for its role in manufacturing aviation components and producing the Ilyushin Il-96 jet airliner.

Aleksandr Gusev, the Governor of Voronezh Oblast, confirmed to Russian media outlet Interfax that fires had broken out at several industrial businesses. However, he did not initially name the specific companies involved in his official statement. Gusev described the incidents as occurring without significant consequences, a claim that contrasts with the extensive damage reported by other observers and local media.

Beyond the industrial sites, the governor reported that fires also started in a business centre, an apartment building, two dacha settlements, a school stadium, and a garage cooperative. He noted that damage to building facades and windows was recorded in nearly every district of the city, indicating the widespread nature of the debris and blast effects.

Gusev stated that air defense units had successfully brought down more than 70 drones directly over the city of Voronezh. When including the wider Voronezh urban area and several districts of the Oblast, the total number of drones intercepted reached 113. This high volume suggests a massive coordinated launch aimed at saturating the air defense systems.

Russian media outlet Astra provided specific details on the locations of the impacts. They reported a drone hit on the Galereya Chizhova business centre, located at 35A Koltsovskaya Street, and captured video of the explosion. The publication also identified explosion sites near residential buildings on 52A 25th Yanvarya Street and 4K Arkhitektora Troitskovo Street based on visual analysis of photos and videos.

Further damage was documented at the Uritsky residential complex on 135 Uritskovo Street. Additionally, a car park on 275/1 45th Strelkovoy Divizii Street saw at least ten cars caught in the flames. Readers of Astra reported hearing explosions and the sounds of air defense operations for over an hour. The city was reportedly shrouded in smoke throughout the engagement, and residents noted that no formal air-raid warning had been issued prior to the strikes.

The attack highlights the continued vulnerability of major industrial hubs in Russia, particularly those linked to the aviation and petrochemical sectors. The targeting of VASO and Voronezhsintezkauchuk underscores the strategic importance of these facilities in Russia's military and economic infrastructure. As the dust settles, local authorities continue to assess the full extent of the damage to both public and private property.
